Mindful Parenting eight-week programme

This course has been designed to help parents or carers develop stronger bonds with their children and take better care of themselves. It is based on the eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) programmes and incorporates Kristen Neffs work on Compassion. It was developed in the Netherlands where research has shown positive outcomes in parental stress, relationships within the family and child behaviour.
The aims of the course are to teach the essential skills of mindfulness, enabling parents/carers to attend to their children and themselves with greater awareness and compassion, The mindfulness practices in the course also support working with difficult parenting experiences.
About the course
The mindful parenting course consists of eight, three-hour sessions and is suitable for parents or careers of children of all ages. Each session will be a mixture of mindfulness meditation, group exercises and discussion, movement exercises and psychoeducation exploring the following themes:
Mindful vs auto-parenting
Beginners mind Parenting
Understanding stress and how we can work with it
Bringing mindfulness to difficult parenting experiences
Parenting patterns and schemas
Love and limits
No previous experience of mindfulness needed
